Chloasma, also called melasma, is an innocent form of hyper pigmentation. It appears as a blotchy, brownish pigmentation of the face and sometimes also of the neck, which exists by accumulation of pigment cells. It mostly develops slowly and exists with or without preceding irritation of the skin. The most common areas are the forehead, the skin of the cheek bones, the upper lip and the chin. For the treatment of Chloasma, specific peels are performed which are especially developed for this problem combined with microdermabrasion. Special fruit acid peels play a very important role in the treatment.
